Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 39th Ann. Conv., 2015
Development of geological structures in Cadasngampar Area, Sumedang district, West Java resulted in well-exposed outcrops. The rock in this area has the relative age of Oligocene to Miocene, analogous to the sediment characteristics and petrography of Cinambo Formation. The objectives of this study were to determine facies succession, facies association, facies distribution, and visualize Cinambo sandstone in 3-dimensio model.. The principal data for this study are outcrop descriptions that illustrate subsurface facies related to the geometry of turbidite facies distribution in submarine fans. This paper uses measured section data and composite logs from integrated outcrop section, petrographic analyses, paleontological analyses, and sedimentological analyses. Petrographic analyses show that Cinambo sandstone is classified as lithic greywacke sand, whereas the clay is classified as mudstone. Paleontological analyses show that Cinambo sandstone was deposited in outer neritic – upper bathyal environment of Middle Miocene age. Based on facies analyses, Cinambo sandstone is interpreted to be deposited at medial submarine fan. The conclusion of the entire study is that Cinambo sandstone probably acts as reservoir rock whereas Cinambo clay is probably the source rock of petroleum play in this area.
