An economic perspective and reservoir characteristics of gas hydrate with case studies Karama Block, Makassar Strait

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 39th Ann. Conv., 2015

This paper will discuss and focus at the reservoir characteristics and economic perspective of gas hydrates with case studies around the Karama Block in Makassar Strait, Indonesia. Based on gas hydrate occurrences, they are located in two places: in the marine environment and on permafrost (Kvenvolden, 1993). The content of gas hydrate in Indonesia is estimated to contain highly abundant gas hydrated, around 600 trillion cubic feet, in the deep ocean (Yusuf, 2003). The method used for this research is secondary data obtained from Pertamina UTC. This paper emphasizes the study of the reservoir of the Karama Block. The results determined the content of the gas hydrate, the method of production and production facilities, and the value of the economics of gas hydrate reservoir in the Karama Block.
