Applying Technology for Asset Monitoring Through Digital Twin Integration: A Comprehensive IOT and Real-Time Visualization Approach

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 48th Ann. Conv., 2024

The oil and gas industry has implemented digital transformation to improve operational efficiency. In recent years, the industry has witnessed the emergence of a transformative technology using digital twins. Digital twin replicates a physical system digitally and update it with maintenance and health data throughout its lifecycle. This paper presents a customized monitoring system integrating digital twins, GIS, and the Internet of Things (IoT). It describes a technical development system for processing data that facilitates communication between geospatial and time-series datasets from the IoT. The high-fidelity sensor tags installed at our asset facilities are connected to sensor data, necessitating a comprehensive data streamer and database. The results create a product to enable access to multi-dimensional data in a single integrated system. The system includes GIS interactive digital twin maps and real-time facility sensor network visualizations. Engineers can view their facility's components alongside time series data and their Plant Design Management System (PDMS). This collaboration presents a novel approach for engineers and stakeholders to develop strategic plans for monitoring asset facilities.
