Carbonate mound deposit of Gunung Bodas, Bogor as part of analogue model for prospective mud mound hydrocarbon reservoirs in miocene carbonates

The intertidal carbonate mound deposits consist of loose organism materials such as algae, coral fragments, and mollusc. Further it is interpreted that the carbonate mound section, that exposed at Gunung Bodas limestone hill, developed during the last period of sea level rise that gave a quite calm condition. The mounds formed on the landward site of the rimmed shelves platform specifically on the intertidal part of the inner shelf. The textural properties of the mounds range from packestone to wackestone, showing that the carbonate mounds mostly consist of mud supported matrixes.The analogue model of porosity that formed in the Gunung Bodas mud mound outcrop will give a point of view to porosity variants that might also be occurred in Miocene carbonate mud mound which lies below the surface. Diagenetic phenomena affect and give a good impact to secondary porosity production of Miocene mud mound carbonates. Several areas influenced by dissolution will generate mouldic or vugular porosity which formed prospective mud mound hydrocarbon reservoir. The comparative parameter between Gunung Bodas mound and subsurface carbonate mound in Indonesia took from its depositional period and process that contributing to the diagenetic process that exists to produce secondary porosity. Shortly, secondary porosity in Miocene mud mound carbonate of Gunung Bodas is expected to be analogue with the porosity variants in other Miocene mud mounds.Petrographic analysis will clarify the porosity type of Gunung Bodas mud mound carbonate and we could see the features of those porosities directly from the thin sections. Some formations in Indonesia such as Baturaja, Kais, Prupuh etc. which have mounded geometry are expected to have similarity with Gunung Bodas mud mound carbonate, either from the depositional period, development process, diagenetic phenomenon, or its product: porosity type.
