Enhanced Availability & Reliability of MMF Turbine Gas Compressor Using Chemical Soaking Method at Mike-Mike Flow Station PT PHE ONWJ

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 48th Ann. Conv., 2024

The Mike-Mike offshore platform processes 50 MMSCFD of gas from the Mike-Mike Platform, KLA Platform and Lima Platform. There are 2 Turbine compressor trains on the Mike-Mike Platform, namely the MMF compressor and the MMC compressor. The MMF compressor functions as a gas lift producer for oil lifting on the Mike-Mike Platform with capasity 30 MMSCFD, therefore the reliability of the MMF Compressor must be properly maintained to achieve yearly target.

The problem of high vibration on the MMF Turbine Compressor due to debris sticking to the Turbine Compressor impeller caused a shutdown with a production loss of 1,200 BOPD. PHE ONWJ innovated with the Chemical Soaking method using Chemical Paraffin & Acid Solvent and manual turning 15 degrees every 1 hour when the Soaking process was carried out. Next, flush the Turbine Compressor using distillate water until the Turbine Compressor is clean from remaining debris and chemicals.

The Soaking compressor method has been proven to be successful in shedding debris attached to the compressor impeller and eliminating vibrations from the MMF Compressor, so that the performance of the MMF compressor can return to normal without having to strip down. With minimum cost of surface facilities optimization achieved 100% the yearly production target.
