The oil and gas industry is a high risk business. It has many potential impacts on the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS). Unlike many other industries, the oil and gas industry has a broad range of high technology related work - hence, the risks and the impacts are wide ranging. Each activity has its own risks and types of impact.Like every other industry in Indonesia, oil and gas industry activities must be safe, reliable, and environmentally compatible. As a consequence, EHS issues must have priority in all activities in the operation and management of the oil and gas industry. These issues need to be more clearly understood when related to the nationallinternational regulations on one hand and to public awareness on the other.Entering a global market, industrial competition becomes tighter and every product has to meet international quality standards (IS0 9000). Therefore, consumers may choose products which incorporate more stringent EHS standards in the production process as well as in the product itself.
