Gas conservation in the Sangatta field
Year: 1985
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 14th Ann. Conv., 1985
Hydrocarbon belong to the strategic minerals which are not renewable. With time human need for energy enhances. So every form of energy should be conserved included natural gas.The paper describes the feasibility of compressing flared gas amounting to 22 MMSCFD in the SANGATTA field. The subject field, located in the East of Kalimantan, 325 Km from Bontang is operated by Pertamina Unit EP-IV.A peak production of 6000 Bold 331390 API paraffinic cmde was obtained in the year 1978, presently declining to 2600 BO/d with only 25 producers out of which 12 are gaslifted. Gaslift gas requirement of 6 MMSCFD is met by non/associated gas wells.Proposed project calculates a subtotal requirement of 2947 BHP comprising three individual compressors of respectively 1691,746 and 510 BHP or a total requirement of 5894 BHP with spare units.Hence the demand for gaslift gas can be met, non/ associated gas be conserved, the possibility of future pressure maintenance be performed while at the same time creating a market for raw material/fuel.If realized, with a remaining recoverable proven reserves of 98 BCF, profit will total 3 1 million US$.
