Geology and reservoir characterisation of Wiriagar field as a diagenetic facies for reservoir simulation

Water production from the Kais reservoir in the Wiriagar field in western Irian Jaya was significantly higher than predictions from a reservoir simulation model constructed before the field went on production. A new computer simulation model of the reservoir is being developed currently.A description of the reservoir is given and possible explanations for the higher than expected water production are discussed. Finally, recommendations on the approach to modelling the reservoir in the new model are made.
