Integrated in-house monitoring toolbox: practical production monitoring workflow for a mature field
Year: 2014
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 38th Ann. Conv., 2014
Peciko is a giant gas field located offshore in the Mahakam Delta, Indonesia. Since the start-up of the field in 1999, 140 wells have been put on stream with cumulative gas and condensate production of 4.1 Tscf and 76 Mbbl respectively. Along with production and concomitant depletion, most of the wells are sensitive to back pressure and liquid loading, leading to challenging production monitoring activities which are required to sustain the production of the field.
In order to improve the production monitoring workflow, a compact and practical toolbox has been developed. The inputs of the toolbox are the surface parameters (i.e., rate, pressure, and temperature) and Microsoft Excel is used as the calculation tool. Inflow performance relation is calculated at the wellhead level using Forchheimer correlation in pseudo-pressure mode matched with PLT data whenever available. Connected Gas-In-Place (CGIP) in the vicinity of the well is estimated from the wellhead shut-in pressure data using P/z method. The combination of inflow performance relation and CGIP is used to construct the production potential profiles.
In summary, the toolbox is used to perform production forecasting, to evaluate the well potential and to indicate whenever wells are producing below their optimal potential. Those wells are candidates for remedial actions.
