Quantitative facies interpretation is one of the keys to construct robust reservoir characterization. The challenge is how to extrapolate from facies identified in cored intervals to those of non-cored intervals. In this study, we present the methodology and results of litho-facies estimation applied to the Jurassic sandstone reservoir of the Plover Formation in the Abadi Field, Eastern Indonesia. In the Abadi field, seven wells have been drilled to date from which various electrical logging data and core samples are available. Representative litho-facies in the cored intervals were precisely defined based on the core observation in terms of rock texture. Then, an investigation was carried out to determine any relationship between each litho-facies and electrical log response/characteristic. Prior to utilization the electrical log data were standardized carefully, in order to conduct quantitative correlation between the different wells. We constructed the appropriate calculation model from these relationships in the cored intervals. The model was applied to estimate electrical litho-facies for the non-cored intervals. The estimated electrical litho-facies were reasonable to evaluate the depositional facies interpretation which was directly applied to facies property trend and distribution in the geological model for the field.
