Measuring and Analyzing Stakeholder Engagement through An integrated Dashboard Management

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 48th Ann. Conv., 2024

As one of the leading oil and gas companies in Indonesia, MedcoEnergi faces stakeholder relations challenges ranging from land acquisition, security, and social issues such as oil thefts, job demands, and various grievances. These challenges involve a diverse range of key stakeholders, including government entities at the central and local levels, local communities, community leaders, NGOs, business-partner companies, politicians, and of course, the media.

With MedcoEnergi's portfolio expanding both nationally and internationally, the complexity of issues to be handled multiplies, such that it becomes imperative to effectively manage engagement with the company’s stakeholders in order to maintain our license to operate and thus keep our business sustainable.

Recognizing this importance, we have introduced a ground-breaking, data-driven approach in managing stakeholders and provide a fresh perspective on addressing these social challenges. Our data-driven methodology not only facilitates the development of an effective stakeholder management plan but also enables precise engagement with key stakeholders on issues, gives priority based on risk exposures such as Risk to Operation and Risk to HSE, optimizes resource allocation, and expedites the handling of grievances. Moreover, it serves as a catalyst for knowledge sharing and learning among assets, capacity building, continuous improvements, and ensuring adaptability and responsiveness in our approach amid limited time and resources.

In this paper, we share the project's comprehensive methodology, explore its tangible results, and engage in more in-depth discussions on its implementation.

We believe that together, we can experience a journey of implementing a strategic approach in addressing the social challenges associated with oil and gas operations.

Our commitment for continuous business process improvements remains solid, aiming not just for operational excellence but also for a positive and sustainable impact on the communities where we operate.
