Multi – mineral analysis to determine petrophysical properties of carbonate reservoir in Diamond field, central Sulawesi Basin

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 38th Ann. Conv., 2014

In this study, we identify different types of hydrocarbon prospect zones using a multi-mineral analysis concept. The concept is based on neural-network analysis and weighted functions from petrophysical parameters. Nine sets of well and mudlog data have been obtained from onshore sources and used as primary data. Core data have been used as a control for each result of the petrophysical properties. This study was performed on the Diamond Field, Matindok Block, Central Sulawesi Basin, Indonesia. Quality control of well log data, environmental corrections, lithology and fluid formation modeling, and the calculating of petrophysical property values are included in this study. Modeling results show that each well has a potential gas column. However, one well is located without a gas column (dry well). Results of petrophysical property analysis in the Diamond Field show 23% porosity, 154 mD of permeability, 18% water saturation, and 4% clay volume. The results of the petrophysical properties analysis from multi-mineral modeling in this study are valid and proven by a deviation standard value of 2.47% for porosity and 5% for permeability. Keywords: multi-mineral analysis, porosity, permeability
