Year: 2017
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 41st Ann. Conv., 2017
In 2015, pursuant to the gas-marketing plan, PT Medco E&P Lematang (MEPL) had a new challenge to deliver more sales gas to a new gas buyer. According to the Sales Gas Agreement (SGA), MEPL shall deliver 42 BBTUD of sales gas and was called the Sales Gas Re-route Project. The Amine Unit needed to be operated at 20 - 25% above nominal capacity of 48 mmscfd of raw gas, so that MEPL could be able to deliver such sales gas nomination.
The study has been carried out to evaluate hydraulic performance of the absorber column. Raw gas condition and sales gas specification were reviewed in accordance with flooding analysis. The main result was that the amine unit has the capability to be operated at 20 – 25% above nominal capacity.
Even though the amine unit used to experience severe foaming, high methane loss and damage to the internal parts of the column, the year 2015 marked a special year. The amine unit successfully processed 59 mmscfd of raw gas so that MEPL was able to deliver 42 BBTUD of sales gas and MEPL were able to demonstrate full commitment to customer satisfaction.
