Operational workflow transformation improvement by implementing decision support center in Bekasap and Bangko Sumatra Light Operation North

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 38th Ann. Conv., 2014

Quality analysis and decisions are needed to support daily operations. For this, we need accurate and updated data, and also good communication among teams. Sumatra Light Operations North (SLO North) of PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia produces crude oil and gas from many fields scattered over a wide areas seen in Figure 1. It is the largest area managed in the Rokan PSC, and operates: • 24 Gathering Stations • 8 Gas Plants • 82 Fields, consist of oil producer and injector wells • 1600 active wells The Operations department provides well and facility monitoring and surveillance. Historically, surveillance covered all wells and equipment without prioritization. This delayed analysis and response time. Starting in 2013, SLO North developed the Decision Support Center (DSC) see in Figure 2, a centralized and structured system that integrates people, process and technology to address daily operation of “On plot” facilities (about 24 Gathering Stations) and “Off plot” facilities (more than 1600 wells producing about 80 MBOPD). DSC has enabled SLO North to speed-up field operator response to abnormal conditions and unscheduled equipment downtime, and has increased the effectiveness of field operator travel time. The ultimate goal of DSC SLO North is safety improvement, maximum production though operational optimization and reliability improvement, resources optimization, and proactive maintenance.
