Pilot Study Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in Indonesia: Planning for the CCS Pilot Facilities at Gundih Field
Year: 2016
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 40th Ann. Conv., 2016
A pilot surface facility for CCS activities in Gundih area, Indonesia is designed to facilitate for the preparation, transportation and injection of 30 ton CO2/day. CO2 capture is provided within Central Processing Plant (CPP) of Gundih Gas Plant. Further CO2 purification is required for this CCS Pilot Project. Two possible tapping points, as well as three technical options are studied for feasibility. Outlet of Sulphur Recovery Unit is identified as preferred capturing CO2 stream for economical reason.
A systematic evaluation is performed to evaluate suitable option for transporting and injecting CO2 to an injection well. The injection well is located about 22 km from the CPP. Two strategies for CO2 transportation, namely by road-trucks and pipeline two method of CO2 injection either by compression or pumping are explored thoroughly. The option for liquefying CO2, transporting it to injection site by means of trucking, and injecting it in supercritical condition by mean of pumping is preferred for economical and practical reason.
