Reservoir water saturation and permeability modeling in the Pangkah field
Year: 2009
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 33rd Ann. Conv., 2009
The approach is taken by integrating selected Kujung intervals, reliable routine core analysis, NMR logs and special core analysis data. Water saturation and permeability models are then developed for each Kujung reservoir unit as functions of porosity and height above free water level with reasonable ties to irreducible water saturation from the capillary pressure and magnetic resonance logs. The most important step to this approach is to allow Archie's saturation exponents to vary across the pay reservoirs in order to match the estimated water saturation to the water saturation model in each reservoir unit. The purpose of this step is to mitigate the effects of invasion and anisotropy on resistivity logs normally used to derive true formation resistivity. This is an interim petrophysical approach in the absence of sedimentological facies information from the cored interval. Therefore, it is not considered a final product. Appropriate facies based modeling should be used when the information from the cored section becomes available.
