The treatment of seawater for water injection purposes involves a combination of physical and chemical treatment methods to deal with the special problems which seawater presents, that is corrosion and scale control. The most critical function, however, is the removal of suspended solids. This paper describes the treatment scheme utilized by the largest seawater injection system in the world to produce the acceptable water quality for injection into the reservoir.
