Seismic sequences interpretation, a contribution to the stratigraphical framework of the Mahakam area
Year: 1982
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 11th Ann. Conv., 1982
The Sepinggan Area to the South was the best place to define comprehensive seismic sequences because it is located on the southern border of the Kutei Basin, the basin edge being the most favourable location to find the limits of sedimentary cycles and consequently of seismic sequences, due to the greater relative changes of sea level and topography which modify both geometry and types of sediments.Starting from this key area for the seismic interpretation, it is possible to distinguish different deltaic cycles and a main tectonic event at the end of Middle Miocene. A regional correlation from South to North Mahakam is presented.
