Seismic stratigraphy study on the Talangakar Formation in the Selat area, Jambi
Year: 1989
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 18th Ann. Conv., 1989
Setiti and Sengeti fields, which produce from the Talangakar Formation, are important structurally controlled oil fields in the Jambi sub-basin. The problem is that it is difficult to find new structural traps in productive basins, and therefore new exploration concepts are frequently needed.A preliminary study of seismic stratigraphy in the Selat area is illustrated by the seismic facies maps of the lower part of Talangakar Formation. These maps are used in the reconstruction of Talangakar paleogeography. The isochore, isochron, and seismic facies are combined to produce a compilation map of the Talangakar C sequence which illustrates stratigraphic trap possibilities of this sequence in this area.
