The Kutei basin - a unique structural history
Year: 1987
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 16th Ann. Conv., 1987
Several important aspects of Kutei Basin structure are most intriguing and quite naturally controversial among earth scientists familiar with the area. The origin and nature of even major features such as the Central Kutei Gravity High and the Samarinda Anticlinorium are continually much debated. This paper describes a model in which tectonic, gravitational and isostatic forces interplay to produce the present day structures. Although other solutions and interpretations undoubtedly have merit, the presented interpretation provides at least one solution to the unique structure of the area.
