The petroleum potential of onshore Timor-Leste
Year: 2014
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 38th Ann. Conv., 2014
Two new informally defined lithostratigraphic units are recognised in the Mesozoic succession of Timor: the Foura Sandstone, a thickly bedded to massive sandstone succession of probable Early Jurassic age with some reservoir potential, and the Tchinver Shale of Late Jurassic age with source rock/seal potential.
The prospectivity of six areas of onshore Timor-Leste is briefly reviewed, with one example of an inversion anticline exploration lead (the Matai Downdip structure in the Suai Basin) briefly outlined.
