A field trial of carbon dioxide (CO2) huff-n-puff has been carried out in Gemah-6 well in Jabung Block for the first time. A total of 1,800 metric tonnes or 34.7 MMScf of CO2 was injected into Gemah-6 well using a CO2 pumping system within 30 days of the total effective injection period. The CO2 injected into the well was discharged from the pumping system in the liquid phase. Following the injection period, the well was shut-in unintentionally for around three-months and then opened for production. The well then tested with ESP and initially produced 250 bopd, two times than the initial production with 87% water cut and 81% CO2. Injection pressure, wellhead pressure and temperature, and daily injection volumes were monitored continuously during injection, while only the wellhead pressure was monitored during the soaking period. The objective of this paper is to report on the field operations including the problems encountered and the solutions. Results and lessons learned are discussed for future CO2 huff-n-puff projects.
