Health, Safety and Environment (HSE/QHSE) departments have been seen to have garnered substantial emphasis in contemporary times. Whereas in previous decades such initiatives were seen as anachronistic, they have become more common place as a result of improving corporate due diligence, increasing public awareness of environmental and human rights issues, and a greater accountability of the industry to the communities impacted upon. From medical emergency response, baseline public health surveys, medical incident mitigation, to health risk assessments, the focus is on mitigating various health risks inherently encountered while assisting in the development of appropriate integrated Corporate Health Plans. These measures significantly reduce the reputational, operational and financial risk of companies operating in the petroleum and mining industries. This white paper, entitled "Corporate Health Risk Mitigation - Elements of an effective Corporate Health Plan" provides a general overview of the various aspects of an integrated Corporate Health Plan. The second half of the presentation focuses primarily on two aspects of particular significance to the HSE/QHSE managers in the Petroleum Industry of Indonesia, being 1) Effective Emergency Response, and 2) Medical Incident Planning - Influenza Pandemic. Various case studies highlighted will demonstrate tangible benefits to the corporation and the industry itself.
