Data quality is defined as characteristics of a data that is associated with preparation, execution, and control of activities that apply superior management techniques to measure data health, address data issues to assure it is fit for consumption and ensure data meets the needs of consumers 1 (DAMA, DMBOK, 2019).

Poor quality of data impacts the accuracy of analytics results which contributes to poor judgement in business decisions, thus leading to missed business opportunities and loss of revenues. In addition, it affects business efficiency as more work go into validating data and fixing data errors instead of focusing on essential tasks. Thus, a standard data quality practice shall be established and operationalised across the group.
