The development of crude oil reserves in the Offshore Northwest Java contract area has been in progress for two and one half years. Three fields are now producing from nine platforms. This paper presents the drilling and completion practices used to develop the first two fields in this area. Basic drilling programs are presented. Well completion programs are reviewed from the selection of completion intervals, downhole equipment arrangements, installation procedures, and to the safety features incorporated into each system.
