This paper present the history of the development of the Ardjuna F field in the Offshore Northwest Java Contract Area. The Ardjuna F field, discovered in 1969, was some 20 miles from the nearest existing production facilities. Early delineation drilling failed to prove enough reserves to justify the cost of development drilling, permanent production facilities, and pipelines to put it on production. Through the utilization of several new development practices, which have now become standard operating procedure, and the inclusion of another small nearby field, it was finally possible to bring the Ardjuna F field on production in 1979. Innovations included the use of floating production facilities and slide-up latforms to save delineation wells for use as producers.Continued delineation of this low relief, highly faulted field and exploration in the immediate area have resulted in a significant producing area. The field is presently producing about 13,000 BOPD from 19 wells, and cumulative oil production to November, 1981 is 11.6 MMB with substantial remaining oil reserves. The field at present is still being developed with more drilling planned to prove additional reserves and to o p timize hydrocarbon recovery. The develop ment of the Ardjuna E: field represents a typical development plan for a marginal field in the Offshore Northwest Java area.
