Geology And hydrocarbon potential of Tumpuktengah Region And Surrounding Area, Talawi Sub-Distric, Sawahlunto District, West Sumatra Indonesia

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 37th Ann. Conv., 2013

The hydrocarbon potential in the Tumpuktengah region, which is classified as an intermontane basin, is discussed. The hydrocarbon evidence that explains the petroleum potential in the research area is oil smell, oil seepage, and drilling wells. The petroleum system of the research area consists of source rock from the Sangkarewang Formation, the reservoir from the Sawahtambang Formation, the anticline and fault structural trap, the seal rock from the Ombilin Formation, and the migration pathway from northwest to southeast. The geochemical analysis shows that the source rock of the research area has a Total Organic Carbon value from 310–5.66%, a Tmax value from 434–443C, and is of kerogen type II.
