Geothermal gradient map of Indonesia: a progress report
Year: 1976
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 5th Ann. Conv., 1976
A geothermal gradient map of Indonesia is being prepared by the Indonesian Petroleum Association. The map will form part of a geothermal gradient map of Southeast Asia, which is to be published as a joint effort between the Indonesian Petroleum Association and the South East Asia Petroleum Exploration Society. Publication is schedules for late 1976.The data for the map are being obtained from temperatures recorded during electric logging and testing operations on wells drilled for oil and gas. Corrections based on circulation time and time since ending circulation are applied to log temperatures to approximate the true formation temperature. The validity of the method for the Indonesian region is demonstrated by comparing temperatures obtained in this way with those obtained directly from test data. To date, twenty nine companies working in Indonesia have contributed data from three hundred and sixty eight wells. Sixty seven percent of this data is usable.A 1 : 5,000,000 geothermal gradient map of Indonesia incorporating currently available data is presented.
