High-resolution acquisition for reducing drilling risk: an example from the Tunu Field, Kalimantan
Year: 2005
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 30th Ann. Conv., 2005
A high-resolution seismic survey, especially designed to detect the presence of gas anomalies from 40m down to a depth of 1500m, was acquired by Total on the Tunu field, Indonesia. An innovative workflow, named AutoGasRisk (AGR) was developed from the acquisition to the interpretation for the shallow gas, so that drillers can make rapid decisions regarding the design of the wells. The AGR workflow developed in close collaboration with Total, the amplitudes of the processed HR seismic cubes are interpreted for geohazards using a detection/classification method. The aim is to deliver within a few days a “risk/no risk verdict to the client regarding the area surrounding each development platform.
