Kuang area is located approximately 40 kilometers south of Prabumulih city, South Sumatra. The block is a well known oil and gas producing area. Hydrocarbons are structurally trapped and accumulated in the Baturaja and Talang Akar Formations, and recently in the Pre-Tertiary Basement.A successfull exploratory ASD-1 well proved that hydrocarbon was accumulated in the fractured zones of the Pre-Tertiary Basement rock and this provides a new exploration play concept in South Palembang Sub basin. The discovery was then followed by ASD-2, BRG-4, BRG-7, and Harimau-9 wells. The hydrocarbon prospect of Basement rock fractures is believed to be a result of tectonic activities which caused fracture systems within the reservoir (which is also related to the fault pattern). These are important for analysing the existing pattern of porosity and permeability.
