Mahakam Delta is now in a mature state. An important number of the remaining reservoirs are low productivity zones, thus requires stimulation to flow. Among different kind of techniques, Hydraulic Fracturing is by far the most well known method in the world. However, the decision to perform hydraulic fracturing should be based on delicate economic assessment, which is mainly driven by how much incremental reserves will the stimulation brings against cost. Therefore, it is important to have a robust method to calculate the incremental reserves. A phenomenological dynamic model is built to simulate the productivity increase of previous hydraulic fracturing jobs in Handil. The model is then use to calculate the abandonment pressure which directly impact the incremental reseves. The same approach is then used to predict incremental reserves at different reservoir permeability and fracture length. Finally, a new method to calculate hydraulic fracturing incremental reserves is ready. It allows engineers to easily calculate the incremental reserves only by knowing reservoir permeability, Connected Gas In Place (CGIP) and assuming the fracture length. The study is limited at theoretical methodology that required fine-tuning after operational fracture has been done. It is also limited at Handil deep zone environment and another adjustment might be needed in other environment.
