Many efforts have been done to fulfill VICOs commitment to the GOI and buyers to produce gas and oil. Unfortunately there are some risks involved in each activity, including process facilities, equipment, people and environment.To manage the above risks, integrated approaches on managing HSE have been implemented based on four pillars principles: process and engineering safety, management system & procedures, behavior safety, and emergency response. Each pillar stands above environment protection as a floor and foundation to support the production.Process and engineering safety, is the first pillar for this integrated HSE program., All facilities and equipments shall be met with the standards and specifications for each process, including piping, machinery, compression etc. in which process shall inherently be a safe operation.The second pillar is the Management system, which also covers procedure, work standard, guideline and other documentary support. Management system can be based on ISO and OHSAS or others.Behavior safety is the third one, the program is focusing in changing behavior of the work force toward higher HSE awareness by using various program such as Dupont STOP or other Companys self initiatives. At the end, behavior will become a culture.The fourth pillar is to give protection when one of the previous three is failed. The Emergency response and business continuation shall be the last protection, Company has to be ready to handle the emergency and crisis situation. Many companies have been vanished because of their poor emergency handling.The base of these four pillars is the environment protection which shall be used as an integral part for each HSE program. The credo from the cradle to the grave shall be implemented consistently.The result of this integrated approach has led VICO for several years now, leading on HSE performance, accident rate has been reduced significantly and VICO has been recognized as one of the best internationally in HSE performance as reported annually by OGP. On the environmental management, VICO could maintain ISO14001 certification and PROPER rating from GOI.
