Integrated Dynamic Model Simulation for Multi Layer-Partially Leaking Fault Gas Reservoirs: Unlocking West Stupa Potential, Stupa Field South Mahakam

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 43rd Ann. Conv., 2019

West Stupa is one of Stupa offshore gas field panel that separated by fault and located in South Mahakam. This panel is a part of Middle Miocene Sepinggan Deltaic Sequence with delta front to pro-delta geological environment. Multi layer gas reservoirs are observed with partially leaking fault that separate panel into two sub-panels. This panel initially developed in 2013 as part of Stupa Field development. Optimizing existing wells production and future drilling campaign proposal for new wells are reviewed to unlock remaining recovery from this panel. Integrated dynamic model simulation with fundamental reservoir simulation workflow was performed: static geomodel definition, initialization, history matching and forecasting for more than 55 separated regions of multi layer reservoirs with partially leaking fault. Supporting data collection and integrated studies were performed to define static geomodel, rock & fluid model, initial hydrostatic equilibration, reservoir production synthesis, and outflow performance selection based on production history data and geological interpretation. Iterated-history matching practical workflow was performed and documented for this type of reservoir characteristic to represent recent condition of field production performance. Matching dynamic model then used for supporting existing and new wells prediction performance to unlock remaining potential from each sub-panel and reservoir regions. It also becomes an input for reservoir properties heterogeneity and geological concept re-definition in order to determine reliable dynamic reservoir simulation model. This integrated methodology could be used as an alternative practical reference for dynamic model simulation of multi layer with partially leaking fault reservoirs characteristics in which complexity and dependent variables become main challenges.
