Locally developed tectonic history of southern Barito Basin by Tensor type analysis, a case study in Panyiuran region, South Kalimantan
Year: 2014
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 38th Ann. Conv., 2014
The Barito Basin is located along southern edge of the stable Sundaland Continent defined by the Meratus Terrain define the basin in the east. The focus area is located on Meratus Mountain physiography, Panyiuran District in which show the best outcrop of structure evidence outcrop in surface. This paper describes the tectonic evolution in the Panyiuran District, South Barito.
The data used in this work were collected from surface geologic mapping on April-May 2013. It was then followed by analyzing the field data carefully. Ten joint data (from extensional joints, conjugate joints, compressional joints, cleavages and gash fractures), six fold data (five folds data from the outcrop and one from the traverse map), four fault data (three normal faults and one reverse fault) and surface data were analyzed. All data were put into a Win-Tensor Program. Ten joints data showed the regime type of the area according to ratio tensor type, pure compressive, pure extensive and radial compressive regime type. Ten joints data could support fault identification. There are three normal faults with the southwest-northeast orientation and one reverse fault with the southeast-northwest orientation.
The complexity of the structure in the research area will explain the regional of Kalimantan and help us to understand another perspective of tectonics in Barito Basin which will be very useful for hydrocarbon exploration.
