Rig Hours Optimization Using Plug Modification on Fracturing Job in Sangasanga Field

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 46th Ann. Conv., 2022

Sangasanga Field is one of 22 fields in PT. Pertamina EP with oil production target of 5670 BOPD in 2019. The Field well work plan includes 32 wells workover and 77 well intervention which are expected to support the achievement of production targets in 2019. One of the jobs to support well intervention is to test tubing before cementing and fracturing process. In the tubing test process, there are activities that contribute to high loss time, namely circuit unplugging. Objective of this paper is to find an alternative solution to minimize the activity of running in and pulling out the circuit to open the plug by modifying the plug using a TH pump shoe (tubing pump) and a TH pump mandrel (tubing pump) and a series of fishing tools: on and off (fishing neck), pony rod 7/8” with guide sucker rod so that the circuit is in the middle of the fishing jar to help release both the plug and sinker bar. The working method is the shoe and pump mandrel that have been plugged in run together with run tubing, a pressure test is carried out per 20 joints to the depth according to the program, after the final pressure test is carried out, then the fishing tool circuit to the sandline is connected, then run sandline until plug peak. On-off combined with a pony rod and rod guide will ensure the fishing tool is in the middle of the inner diameter of tubing, then it will latch into the plug and conduct tension sandline so that the jar will work and the plug modification tool will release from shoe. Modification of these tools reduces the pull-in work and is tested on 4 wells, the result is that it can reduce the tubing pull-in time for 12 hours also generate efficiency in rig rental costs and diesel costs of $1,550/well. With this innovation, it can accelerate the operation of the rig work so that it can potentially increase the well production in the Sangasanga Field.
