Securing Long Term 750 BOPD Old Rimau Production through Langkap Flare Recovery System
Year: 2019
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 43rd Ann. Conv., 2019
Current Old Rimau production approximately 750 BOPD and requires ~0.4 MMSCFD fuel gas to produce all 34 wells and facilities. Failed to provide this fuel gas will simply end up losing 750 BOPD production. Existing fuel gas is supplied from 2 (two) gas wells which continue declining and forecasted will not be able to supply until the end of Rimau contract at 2023. The option is limited since there is no other potential gas well to be opened, and external gas purchase is not favorable due to its high cost (~1.4 MUSD/Year). There is chance to recover ~0.2 MMSCFD from associate gas Langkap Station which currently flared. It will not cover all fuel gas requirement, but will surely extend the lifetime of gas wells. Flare recovery system was then trial for 3 (three) months (Jul Sept 2018) and give promising result. Actual gas from flare recovery system is able to fulfill 66% of fuel gas requirement. Since this flare recovery system operated, we are also able to reactivate shut-in well AL-0034 with 32 BOPD initial oil gain. Based on this trial result, flare recovery system in Langkap Station then decided to run continuously. Further plan is also in progress to recover flared gas in Kerang Station and expected to fulfill 100% of Old Rimau gas fuel requirement.
