The application of velocities and models to seismic interpretation
Year: 1977
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 6th Ann. Conv., 1977
Velocity spectra, which have been in common use for about ten years, make it possible to study lateral variations of the seismic velocity. In favourable conditions, ie. in quiet tectonic conditions, interval velocities can be discerned, and time contours can be transformed directly into depth contours by using collections of velocity spectra. When the tectonics are complex, the study of velocity spectra collections has to be supplemented with seismic models.Because modelling technique requires an interactive routine, an interactive terminal can be used very effectively for this work.
