The development of an implicit flow model for predicting the flow performance of high viscosity oil and water in pipelines

A two-phase flowing mixture of oil and water is often found in oil field pipelines. Sometimes, this mixture is intentionally used to reduce a high pour point value, so that the oil can still be transported to its destination. Of course, the temperature and viscosity properties of the fluid would affect the pressure loss performance along the pipeline. To account for the temperature and pressure in the performance of the mixqure, two flow equations for both variables have been implicitly formulated as a system of equations. Using Nemn Raphson's Iteration Method, temperature and pressure can be solved simultaneously or implicitly for certain lengths of pipelines. This solution is appropriate for a hydrocarbon system which has nonlinear pressure and temperature properties.
