The Evaluation Of Indirect Water Cut Measurement Using Coriolis Flowmeter Case Study : Kerisi Oil Allocation Meter
Year: 2012
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 36th Ann. Conv., 2012
Water cut (water content) data in oil and water mixture is used to analyze the nature of the process of oil field development and the motion of the water/oil contact boundary as well as to calculate the amount of oil and water in the well flow. The absence of online water cut analyzer in Kerisi field – operated by ConocoPhillips Indonesia – for field production allocation measurement has made operations and subsurface team depends on the quality of manual sampling and testing, while human error and other non-technical reasons may exist during such activity. The water cut of continuous flow of crude oil and water mixture can be indirectly measured by coriolis flowmeter. ConocoPhillips Indonesia has been using this particular application to monitor the overall hydrocarbon liquid and water production of Kerisi oil field. The in-situ evaluation of indirect measurement of water cut was conducted to understand the water cut determination between indirect water measurement and manual sampling and testing by centrifuge method. The comparison result suggests that both of the two methods were in close agreement with careful attention to several aspects.
