Trains A-D debottlenecking project Pertamina - Badak LNG plant

Trains A-D are capable of producing LNG at 640 cubic meter per hour per train on a continous operating basis. This is approximately 140% of the original design rate of 460 cubic meters per hour train of LNG.Based on Trains A-D experienced and by implementing several modifications on the original train design in order to improve efficiency and reliability, Train E LNG production was higher than expected. Train E was demonstrated 722.5 cubic meters LNG per hour, which is equal to 113% of the original contractor design rate of 639 cubic meters LNG per hour.Considering the Badak Train E experience, with new LNG business opportunities in 1992 onwards, Pertamina - Badak LNG Plant decided to increase Trains A-D LNG production by retrofitting the curreni Trains A-D close to Train E production capabilities. Those activities are covered in Trains A D Debottlenecking (TADD) Project. The major scop, of work of the Trains A-D Debottlenecking (TADD) Project are as follows:1. Retrofit all three refrigerant compressors and upgrade the rotors and nozzle boxes of the propane refrigerant compressor steam turbine driver.2. Replace the existing mixed refrigerant compressor after cooler with a new design.3. Install an additional boil-off gas (BOG) compressor at the storage loading area and modify the scrub column to handle additional feed gas rates.Upon completion of this project by the end of 1993, Trains A-D are expected to be able to produce LNG at approximately 700 cubic meters per hour per train or 2800 cubic meters LNG for four trains. The LNG production will be equal to 110% of the currently demonstrated capacity. By spending a limited investment for Trains A-D Debottlenecking (TADD) Project, the total Badak LNG plant Trains A-D capacity is about 3522.5 cubic meters per hour, which is almost equal to 6 trains of the Trains A-D currently demonstrated capacity of 640 cubic meters per hour per train.
