Total E&P Indonesie (TEPI) has been the operator of Mahakam Block in East Kalimantan since 1968. In a mature field with aging wells, well integrity becomes vital aspect to ensure all wells are operated within design envelope during well life cycle. This paper discusses well integrity management system in Mahakam Block to manage more than 2000 wells with various integrity threats.
In order to assess well integrity for each well, NORSOK D-010 barrier concept is applied for universal approach to all type of well. Two barriers envelope, external and internal, are assessed individually. In addition, annulus pressures are also assessed as its behavior indicates well integrity issue.
All those elements are combined and then determine the well integrity condition of a well. Four color codes, Green/Yellow/Orange/Red, are utilized for visualization purpose of criticality ranking. Green and yellow are acceptable meanwhile orange and red highlight integrity issue and urgency to perform restoration job.
A systematic method was developed to have one database through in-house software called SWIM (Smart Well Integrity Module). All information related to well barrier are recorded in one portal which are updated regularly and become a “live” data. Furthermore, this software is designed to assessing well integrity color code.
Having SWIM as one portal and integrated software is advantageous in terms of prioritization and data reliability for monitoring thousands well condition. This system has been implemented since 2015 and provided an effective way to managing well integrity allowing proper assessment, fast-follow up and suitable intervention or repair.
